Pottery Classes in Somerset with Nicola Werner

Learn Majolica Pottery

Spend a day in the workshop learning to throw pots and paint in the traditional majolica style.

These small, informal classes take place in Fitzhead, Somerset, offering a hands-on introduction to pottery in a calm rural setting.

A Day Pottery Course in Fitzhead

Set beside Fitzhead Church and the old tithe barn, the workshop is a light, working studio surrounded by countryside.

The day begins with coffee and a demonstration, followed by time on the wheel where you will learn the basics of throwing pots. With just three wheels available, everyone has time to practise and develop a feel for the clay.

In the afternoon, we turn to painting, exploring decoration on tin-glazed earthenware in the majolica tradition.

This is a relaxed and practical introduction to pottery, suitable for complete beginners as well as those looking to reconnect with making.
